Your valid passport from your home country. Required for almost every step of Spanish bureaucracy.

How to get it

Issued by your home country before you travel. Should be valid for the full length of your stay.

Common mistakes

— Passport expires before your stay ends — Spanish authorities often require validity covering the entire residence period
— Forgetting to bring both the original and a photocopy to appointments (most offices want both)

Bring the original to every appointment. Always have at least two photocopies of the photo page on you.
